A brand new two-storey school at the edge of this village is being constructed, thanks to some good fundraising. It will contain two classrooms and serve sixty local schoolchildren. The older children, ages of 12-16 will have the top classroom and 6-11 year olds will be on the ground floor. There will be a small administration office there too, just at the entrance.
Jennifer Abubakar Abena and her father, Magudo have togetherraised $15,000 for their charity, in order to furnish the village with more modern amenities.
Additionally, they will also be donating funds that will help start work on a fresh-water treatment center. This will supply drinking water to a dominant pump in the village. Then, the pipes from the pump will sprout off to 4 other nearby locations. The villagers will access to water and no need to queue up to use it.
Surgical masks, syringes, scrub clothes, scalpels, anaesthetic and other supplies were also obtained for the community hospital. The doctor in charge of the regional facility said “It is with great thanks to Jennifer and Magudo that we now have the supplies we treasure. Every little bit of help will mean that we can save more lives, protect more children from disease and perform emergency surgery without having to transport people to the closest town—which is twenty-eight miles away. This helps us to support and help out local community far easier than before. We will always be grateful to them for everything they do.”
New medicines, vaccines and vital equipment were also bought for the under-equipped local hospital.
